The world of reality television has delivered some truly ambitious, and wacky, formats in recent years from celebs mastering Winter Olympic events to Channel 4's naked race across the country.
And now, it's rumoured that ITV are making one small step for man and one giant leap for TV as they play to send famous faces to a Space station.
Stars In Mars has just been confirmed to air in the US this year and will see TV stars known as 'celebronauts' learn to manage everyday tasks such eating and drinking, exercising and sleeping, while living in microgravity.They will also be tasked with competing against each other in various challenges.
According to reports, the US version will swiftly be followed by a British one. The first episode will air in America on 5 June and the iMDB description for the wacky programme reads: "Follows a simulation of what might be like to be an astronaut on Mars, all with celebrity contestants competing to be the last one standing." According to The Sun, the UK version of the series is currently in pre-production with Britain's Got Talent creators Thames TV and will be on our TV screens by 2024.
