A twelve-day skateboarding event is coming to Manchester this summer. A collaboration between adidas and Manchester’s Factory International, it will launch next weekend.
Kicking off on Saturday, July 27, the twelve-day event, known as Build Manchester, will take place at Aviva Studios. It will see the landmark cultural spaces transformed into a custom-built skate park with free activities in collaboration with Manchester’s most influential skate communities.
Attendees can expect skate contests, skate schools, product launches, exhibitions, film premieres and workshops as well as the chance to see adidas' global team riders including the likes of Blondey McCoy, Jarrad Carlin, and Nikolai Piombo. READ MORE: Tucked-away tennis and basketball court with beer garden opens in Manchester The event series kicks off next Saturday (27 July) with a huge opening ceremony featuring a skate jam with the adidas Global Team Riders, as well as a best trick competition, outdoor BBQ and Live DJ sets.
It will run from 4-10pm and is free, but access is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Other event highlights running over the next twelve days include a skate school, where attendees can pick up tips of specific tricks and other aspects of the sport and culture.
