Thania Garcia Nearly four months after its release, Myke Towers’ “Lala” (One World/Warner Latina) has become the Puerto Rican rapper’s first-ever global No. 1 single. The track, which sonically borders pop and reggaeton, has been on the ascent on social media and across DSPs in the last week despite the fact that it was released as part of Towers’ 23-song “La Vida Es Una” album way back in March. The song experienced an increased and unforeseen popularity after going viral on TikTok, and while it is virtually impossible to predict what will happen next, Towers has plans to make the most of the boost in tandem with entertainment executive Brandon Silverstein.

Thania Garcia Rebeca León has been tapped as Anitta’s new manager, sources canconfirm to Variety. León is the CEO and founder of Lionfish Entertainment, an artist management and production company operating in the music, film, TV, and digital businesses. Representatives for Republic Records, Anitta’s new label, and León did not respond to requests for comment. Anitta was formerly managed by Brandon Silverstein, the founder/CEO of S10 Entertainment, who helped build the multi-lingual singer’s career in the United States. Just a few months ago, Léon amicably parted ways with her longtime client Rosalía, with whom she started a partnership in 2018. As a manager, she’s worked with numerous renowned Latin acts, including overseeing the fruitful career of Colombian superstar Juanes, and the emergence of J Balvin (they amicably split in 2019). Before Lionfish, León led Latin operations as senior VP for AEG/Goldenvoice.

Anitta is no longer in business with her longtime manager Brandon Silverstein, Variety can confirm. The founder/CEO of S10 Entertainment helped foster the multi-lingual singer’s breakout career in the United States. “Working with Brandon the past few years was a great journey,” Anitta said in a statement. “He will always be someone special to me.” Silverstein declined requests for comment. Details on Anitta’s new management were not confirmed at the time of this article’s publication but the shift comes just as the Brazillian star has changed labels: Anitta signed a new deal with Universal’s Republic Records in late April, just weeks after her highly-publicized split from Warner Music.

Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Less than a month after parting ways with Warner Music, Brazilian superstar singer Anitta has signed with Republic Records in partnership with Universal Music Latin Entertainment, the companies officially announced today. After meeting with Monte, Wendy, their team at Republic, and Jesus Lopez I was blown away. Brandon Silverstein, the founder and CEO of S10 Entertainment, is partnering with Simon Fuller for scripted and unscripted projects across film, television, documentary and audio mediums under the S10 Films banner.Fuller, the founder of XIX Entertainment and creator of the “American Idol” format, will offer a pipeline to S10 clients — which include Anitta and Normani as well as business and publishing ventures with Ryan Tedder, Harv and Max Matsura — and access to additional film and television opportunities.Said Silverstein: “I’m psyched to partner with Simon, he is someone I grew up idolizing (no pun intended) and has been an incredible resource to me. Jem Aswad Senior Music EditorR&B star and former Fifth Harmony member Normani has inked a global publishing deal with Hipgnosis Songs Group — but the most eye-grabbing news in the announcement comes toward the end: “Normani has confirmed new music and a larger body of work is on the way.”Fans have been impatiently awaiting new material from the singer for years, and the announcement of a publishing deal often means (although does not guarantee) that its release is relatively imminent. She was named Collaborator of the Year at Variety‘s Hitmakers event in December.The deal includes all of the future works by Normani, a six-time BMI Award winning songwriter.

S10 Entertainment has named Josh Hallbauer the company’s VP of business & operations as well as head of publishing, the company announced Wednesday, with Hallbauer (seen above, right) reporting to CEO Brandon Silverstein (above left) in the L.A. office.“We’re excited to welcome Josh to the team,” said Silverstein, who founded S10 as a multi-faceted management, publishing,  label and investment company.
