A teenage hit-and-run driver who ploughed into a woman and killed her dog while racing his pal has dodged jail. Kallum Aish, who did not have a licence, was chasing a Vauxhall along Doe Bank Lane in Great Barr, Birmingham, when he lost control of the black Renault Clio he was driving.
The then-17-year-old mowed down Patricia Faulkner as she was walking her Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Millie, in July 2020. Patricia was sent flying into a hedge and left with serious injuries, while Millie sadly died, reports Birmingham Live.
Aish fled the scene but the horror crash was caught on camera. Birmingham Crown Court heard the cowardly driver, now 20, has since suffered his own "karma" after he was knocked off his bike in a hit-and-run incident which shattered the side of his skull.Aish has been forced to move home due to death threats and having his home firebombed.
He has also received treatment for cancer in the time since the smash. He admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without a licence and insurance, and criminal damage - for killing the dog - as well as possession of cannabis, after 25 bags of the drug were discovered in his bedroom following his arrest.Aish, from Sutton Coldfield, was yesterday sentenced to 22 months, suspended for 18 months.
