A 'cold snap' of weather could hit as early as this weekend as a yellow weather warning for rain has been issued for parts of the UK.

According to the Met Office, the temperatures across the UK could plunge by this weekend, after the extended Indian summer saw warm weather throughout the start of October.

Daytime temperatures could be potentially up to 10C colder than earlier this week, with the first widespread overnight frost of the season is also likely across many central and northern areas over the weekend. The Met Office said heavy rain is likely to reach south west Britain by Thursday evening, before then spreading across much of England and Wales on Friday, including Chester and Birmingham.
