Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell (born December 18, 2001) is an American singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Highland Park, Los Angeles, Eilish began singing at a young age. She gained media attention in 2016, when she uploaded the song "Ocean Eyes" on SoundCloud, subsequently released by Darkroom and Interscope Records. "Ocean Eyes" was written and produced by her brother Finneas, with whom she collaborates on music and live shows. Eilish's debut EP, Don't Smile at Me (2017), reached the top 15 in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

NME’s newest stars of The Cover, Heriot, have compiled an exclusive playlist to accompany the story’s launch – check it out below.The British metal band are on this week’s (September 30) edition of The Cover, a renewal of NME’s commitment to supporting emerging talent across the globe on a weekly basis.

Every week, a rising artist will feature on The Cover – you can read the profile of Heriot here, written by Emma Wilkes and featuring photography by Tom Oxley.Heriot’s appearance on The Cover follows the release of their debut album, ‘Devoured By The Mouth Of Hell’.

Accompanying the story is an exclusive playlist that sheds light on what songs inspired the record, by the likes of Korn, Slipknot and Slayer – and Billie Eilish.
