Hachette Book Group has laid off seven employees at its Little, Brown imprint today, the company announced. The layoffs were described as part of a corporate restructuring, but is viewed by some as yet another sign of a struggling book publishing industry.

Among the seven people being laid off include the editors Tracy Sherrod, Pronoy Sarkar, Jean Garnett and Ben George, according to the New York Times, quoting a source.

A Hachette spokeswoman told the Times that the restructuring was not a cost-cutting measure. As part of the restructuring, the company said, it will hire in new roles.
