Gary Lineker has confirmed he won't be presenting tonight's Match of the Day due to illness. The former England star says he has come down with a 'rotten cold' and isn't well enough to front this evening's edition of the Premier League highlights show.
In a statement on social media, he said: "Some good news for some: I’ve been silenced….with a rotten cold that seems to be lasting forever.
Hate missing hosting @BBCMOTD but I’ll be watching". Mark Chapman, the host of Match of the Day 2, will replace Lineker on Saturday night's show which will air on BBC One at 10.30pm, the Mirror reports. Lineker is one of the BBC's highest paid on-air talents - earning around £1.3million from the corporation last year. Now, 63, the ex-Tottenham striker has two years left on his BBC deal with questions over his long-term future.
