Millions of workers are set to receive their "largest ever" pay increase from next month, as the government increases the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage by at least 10 per cent.

This will put an extra £1400 in the pockets of full-time workers over the age of 21. For the first time, people aged 21 and 22 are being included in the higher National Living Wage, which will be set at £11.44 from April 1 and take the lowest a full-time adult worker can be paid to £22,308 per year.

While workers earning the National Minimum Wage will be set the new rate of £8.60 per hour, a pay bump of almost 15 per cent.

This rise in what employers must pay their lowest-paid workers comes amid a backdrop of rampant inflation, which has now dropped to around four per cent but has seen the price of food, fuel, and other essentials skyrocket in recent years.
