Investigations into alleged racist comments on a WhatsApp group which led to the sacking of five firefighters last year has resulted in another four leaving the service.
All nine staff are from the same station in Greater Manchester. The Manchester Evening News reported that the five had been sacked in March last year after an inquiry which began in 2021.
Now a second inquiry into four others has seen them all leave. County Fire Officer, Dave Russel, said: "In respect of this station there were two complaints made.
The first was in 2021 and then a second in early 2023. The first complaint involved five members of staff and it was in relation to to messaging on a WhatsApp group.
