Police have arrested four people as part of a crackdown on anti-social behaviour in Platt Bridge. Yesterday (Wednesday), neighbourhood officers arrested two men - aged between 20 and 25 - and a woman in her 30s on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, police said.

A teenage boy was also arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference. The arrests were made as part of a clampdown on anti-social behaviour in the area.

They came after stop-and-search powers were stepped up following several 'incidents of violence' in the neighbourhood, including an incident where a gang of armed youths smashed up a property and 'made threats of violence' last Wednesday (May 3). We will use all of ours and our partners resources and powers to ensure we make Wigan a safer place to live and work. "The people in our communities tell us that anti-social behaviour is important to them because it impacts upon their ability to live their lives.
