Fears have been raised about the future of local landmark Dumbuck House Hotel after a fire engulfed part of the derelict building. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they were called to the Glasgow Road venue at 1.20am on Thursday, June 27.Pictures show that the east annexe of the house has been devastated by the blaze but it is hoped the main building can be saved.Three years ago, Devilla Property Services bought the iconic venue, which operated as a restaurant, bar and hotel before it shut down during the pandemic.

The company was struck off the Companies House register in January.Historic Environment Scotland (HES) last year removed the category B listing on the building following a request.

A part retrospective planning application was also lodged last year by 1798 Dumbuck Estates Ltd to partially demolish the building.

The plans, which are pending West Dunbartonshire Council consideration, also seek to convert the hotel to form eight flatted dwellings, with the building of four single storey houses, a security fence and gates. The decision to de-list was taken despite more than 90 objections being submitted by residents.
