Emmerdale fans were stunned to learn that stalwart Dominic Brunt turned 53 last week. Better known as the lovable village vet Paddy Kirk since 1997, whose fourth marriage to Chas Dingle recently crumbled into pieces thanks to her affair with the late Al Chapman, Dominic's birthday was celebrated in a Facebook fan group on Saturday.

Posting pictures of his Yorkshire Dales character, one person captioned them: "Happy birthday Dominic! Some great performances over the years, happy 53rd birthday sir." The fallout from this was a commotion of disbelief, as fellow soap lovers couldn't believe what they were reading - "He looks great!

It's been a torrid time on screen for Paddy of late, who contemplated taking his own life just last month in emotional scenes.This dark psychological deterioration first became a concern when Paddy's dad Bear Wolf discovered a goodbye letter, while Rhona Goskirk later managed to find the missing bolt gun from the vet surgery.
