Boardmasters has been granted official permission to expand its capacity for its 2024 edition.According to the BBC, their application to the Cornwall Council was approved this week, allowing them to grow from an approximate capacity of 53,000 up to 58,000 this year.Back in November, the first wave of artists for this year’s edition of the festival were announced, with Stormzy, Chase & Status, Sam Fender and Becky Hill leading the line-up.It will be held between August 7-11, and take place on the usual sites on the Cornish Coast – Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach, near Newquay.

Nia Archives has announced her debut album ‘Silence Is Loud’ – you can listen to the title track below.The Bradford-born producer, DJ and songwriter is due to release the 13-song record on April 12 via HIJINXX/Island (pre-order/pre-save here). It’ll contain the previous singles ‘So Tell Me’, ‘Crowded Roomz’ and ‘Forbidden Feelingz’.Per a press release, the forthcoming collection will see Nia explore “loneliness and the intense potential power of silence (something louder than noise could ever be)” as well as “relationships, family, navigating her 20s and more”.The artist worked on ‘Silence Is Loud’ with the songwriter and producer Ethan P.

Reading & Leeds have unveiled details of a huge and “groundbreaking” new stage, with The Chevron debuting at the festival this summer. Roskilde Festival has announced another wave of acts for its 2024 installment – check out the line-up below.The 52nd edition of the Danish non-profit event is due to take place between June 29 and July 6. Blur and Boygenius among the artists making its inaugural edition.The non-hierarchical list celebrates artists the channel has made a particular effort to champion in the last few months, including newcomers as well as more established artists.Appearing alongside Blur and Boygenius are big names including Christine & The Queens and Young Fathers, while rising stars Nia Archives and The Last Dinner Party have also made the list, which is rounded out by Gabriels, Loraine James, Say She She and Anthony Szmierik.The list was revealed by presenter Lauren Laverne on the Breakfast Show today (November 6). “The line-up for the inaugural 6 Music Artists of the Year is just bursting with music talent, innovation and inspiration,” she later said in a press release.

Nia Archives has curated a takeover at the Warehouse Project in Manchester – you can find all the details below.The producer, DJ and songwriter will return to the city’s Depot Mayfield venue on Friday, December 8 with her debut curated show, ‘Up Ya Archives’.Archives leads the line-up, and will be joined on the night by “the UK’s finest and freshest talents across DnB, jungle, dubstep, and UKG”. Acts include Shy FX, Skream, Yung Singh, Interplanetary Criminal and Salute.Fans can also expect a debut B2B set from Clipz and Special Request, among other names.

Nia Archives organised a day rave with a line-up of female and non-binary DJs, promoting inclusivity in the rave scene. The award-winning DJ and producer spoke to NME about the event alongside some of the acts on the bill.The Bad Gyalz rave took place in East London on August 6 and featured a set from Nia Archives, as well as her mentor and UK dance legend DJ Flight, Pxssy Palace (Nadine Door and Mya Mehmi), Sim0ne, Izzy Bossy and Saint Lude.“I’ve always wanted to do a Bad Gyalz rave,” Nia told NME after taking over a shipping dock with some of London’s immense DJ talent.

Nia Archives has shared a new single, ‘Bad Gyalz’, and announced a day rave.The song is the artist’s first new release since ‘Off Wiv Ya Headz’ back in June, which interpolates A-Trak’s huge version of Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ ‘Heads Will Roll’.Speaking about the track, Archives said: “I was on ma way to the studio with Clipz listening to Ranking Ann who is one of my fave MCs – period. And then I was just thinking about tha fact that like whenever I go to one of my shows, it’s like 85 per cent women age 18 -25 which is so amazing! And they are all baddies, absolute junglists.

A Wisonsin teacher has been placed on administrative leave after expressing disappointment in the Waukesha School District’s decision to disallow a student performance of Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton’s “Rainbowland” at her school’s spring concert, The New Republic first reported and multiple outlets, including the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, have confirmed. Melissa Tempel, who teaches first grade at Heyer Elementary in Waukesha, took to Twitter to repeatedly complain after word came down that her students would not be able to carry out a their planned performance of the inclusive country duet, with administrators citing a district-wide policy regarding items “that may be considered political, controversial, or divisive.” In a statement on the decision, district superintendent Jim Sebert wrote that “the question was around whether the song was appropriate for the age and maturity level of the first-grade students.” The ban made national news, with Cyrus’ Happy Hippy Foundation donating to the LGBTQ educational non-profit Pride and Less Prejudice in response.

If you needed another reason not to get on Karin Dreijer’s bad side, look no further than “Even It Out.” The deliciously venomous cut from Radical Romantics, their brand new third studio album as Fever Ray, comes with a music video that ups the ante considerably. “This is for Zacharias / Who bullied my kid in high school,” Dreijer sings, their voice pulsing with an anger that’s crossed over into deranged ecstasy. “There’s no room for you / And we know where you live.” The song’s disturbing nature is belied by its ultra-catchiness, its anthemic and arena-ready instrumental, and the woo-hoos Dreijer injects into the track at key points (often after an especially maniacal lyric).

Nia Archives has shared a new Brazilian-inspired track and video – watch ‘Baianá’ below.The track is the first solo release from the producer since her EP ‘Forbidden Feelingz’ was released back in March of this year.Discussing ‘Baianá’, which samples the traditional Brazilian choir Barbatuques, Nia Archives said: “I’ve always been a massive fan of Samba Music, Bossa Nova Music and Brazilian culture and had been a fan of the Barbatuques for a while.“When I was looking through my samba / bossa playlist and thinking about songs to sample, ‘Baianá’ was the one that stood out for me. When I started making it, the original version was quite bouncy which I wanted to make harder… so I flipped it into this crazy amen break roller with a Reese bass line.
