A drinker who pestered Hamilton shop staff after turning up too early to buy alcohol has been fined £420. William Goodwin, 49, loitered in the Costcutter store in Low Waters Road for nearly an hour and followed a female employee around as she stocked fridges.

Goodwin, of Hall Street, Hamilton, appeared at the town’s sheriff court this week. He admitted rowdy behaviour at the shop on November 9, 2022.

The court heard he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol when he turned up at 9.15am, looking to buy drink. The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
