Eamonn Holmes breaks silence on Ruth Langsford marriage split with emotional on-air statement to fans

Eamonn Holmes has spoken out on his split from Ruth Langsford for the first time since the news was confirmed over the weekend, giving fans an emotional statement on his GB News show, Breakfast with Eamonn and Isobel, on Tuesday (28 May).

Appearing on the show after a bank holiday weekend off, Eamonn briefly addressed his personal life, sharing: "Just before we move on I'd like to thank people for their support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation.

Your support for both of us is very much appreciated." Ruth is yet to comment on the split, which was announced on Saturday with a joint statement, which read: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing." It was previously reported that Eamonn would address the split on GB News as he knew it would be 'odd' not to, with a source telling The Sun: "Eamonn is always frank on camera and knows it will be odd for him to discuss the day's news without mentioning his split so he'll say a few words." The estranged couple met in 1997 after being introduced by a mutual friend and went on to marry in Hampshire in 2010, now sharing a 21 year old son, Jack.The confirmation of their divorce followed on from swirling rumours about the couple, who haven't been pictured together in months.

While a reason for their divorce has not yet been revealed by Ruth nor Eamonn, a number of reports are swirling on what caused the relationship's demise.
