DWP PIP benefit rules change this week to affect those meeting 10-year mark

A major change has been introduced to Personal Independence Payments (PIP) this week which could affect many of the more than three million claimants.

The DWP announced a new approach to part of the payment process will be introduced from the start of this month. The change will affect claimants with "high levels of functional impairment" and no likelihood of improvements to their condition, who get an ongoing awardof PIP that hasno end date.

Such claimants undergo a minimal review after 10 years to check eligibility and payment levels. A simplified form of these reviews will be adopted in order to streamline the process, according to the DWP.
