Dunblane youngster's fire engine dream comes true for Christmas

A young Dunblane boy was burning with excitement when one of his biggest wishes came true before Christmas.Earlier this year, Stirling’s Thistles shopping centre introduced a community wishing well for visitors to have the chance of making a wish.And throughout 2023 the shopping centre has been making them a reality as part of its #ThistlesHelps initiative.Just days before Christmas, a special wish submitted by four-year-old Archie Kinnear, from Dunblane, has been granted, making his dreams to become a firefighter for the day come true.The firefighters at Stirling Fire Station kindly welcomed Archie for a tour of the station, where he was able to learn about the equipment, see where they train and even sit in the front of the fire engine.Archie’s mum Claire said: “We are so grateful to the team at Thistles for making this happen and to the amazing firefighters who kindly showed Archie the ropes and made his wish come true.“This will certainly be a Christmas he won’t forget!”Thistles centre director Gary Turnbull said: “We were delighted to help make Archie’s wish of becoming a firefighter for the day come true and are very grateful to the firefighters at Stirling for working with us to make that happen.
