Drugs worth over £400,000 seized by cops after car stop on M74 in Lanarkshire

Drugs worth nearly half-a-million pounds have been seized by cops on the M74.The bust was made by Police Scotland’s Specialist Crime Division near Lesmahagow on Friday, April 19.

Officers discovered the drugs, worth £426,000, after stopping a car on the stretch of motorway. A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the recovery.

He is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Monday, 22 April, 2024.Detective Superintendent Steven Elliot said: “This was a significant recovery and shows our commitment to targeting anyone intent on profiting from drugs who give no thought to the misery it causes in our communities.“We are grateful for the support of the public and would urge anyone with information or concerns regarding drugs in their community to contact 101.
