Deadline on Friday hosted Sound & Screen Television, the latest incarnation of its awards-season music franchise that puts the spotlight on composers and their work on the year’s buzziest TV series.
In addition to panel conversations with the key creatives behind the shows’ songs and scores, the music was performed with a full orchestra onstage at UCLA’s Royce Hall in front of a full house of TV Academy and key guild voters.
The crowd heard from a total of 10 series, including Oscar and Tony winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul discussing and performing their famed patter song from Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building; brothers Atticus and Leopold Ross appearing to perform for their respective series Shōgun and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters; and Kevin Kiner carrying on John Williams’ legacy with Ahsoka.
Additional panelists and performers included composers Atli Örvarsson, Carlos Rafael Rivera, Blake Neely, Sherri Chung, David Fleming and Jeff Russo, along with Nick Chuba who teamed with Atticus Ross to create the Shōgun score.
