Daniel Bruhl is nearly unrecognizable on set of his new show! The 44-year-old Golden Globe-nominated actor transformed into a young Karl Lagerfeld to film scenes for the upcoming Disney+ series Kaiser Karl on Friday (May 19) in Rome, Italy. Daniel was seen with his brown hair tied back in a low ponytail while wearing striped blazer and matching vest with a purple tie and sunglasses.
For his time on set, Daniel filmed a few scenes at an outdoor cafe before he was seen giving French actor and co-star Théodore Pellerin a kiss on the cheek. Keep reading to find out more… Kaiser Karl was first announced in March has been filming all over Europe.
The six-episode series will “chronicle the rise of Karl Lagerfeld through the world of 1970s Parisian high fashion. In 1972, a 38-year-old Karl Lagerfeld aspired to become the most famous French fashion designer, at a time when Yves Saint Laurent reigned supreme.
Lagerfeld went on to become the head designer and creative director of Chanel, Fendi and his own label. The series will also explore the rivalry between Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent’s partner Pierre Berge, as well as his love story with Jacques de Bascher,” according to Variety. Karl died in 2019 at the age of 85 following complications from pancreatic cancer.
