Olympic cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy has revealed he has been diagnosed with cancer. In a message to fans on Instagram tonight (February 16), he told followers the diagnosis was a 'huge shock', but he currently feels 'fine' and intends to work this year. "I have a bit of news," he wrote. "Last year I was diagnosed with cancer, which came as a huge shock, having had no symptoms up to that point. "I'm currently receiving treatment including chemotherapy, which thankfully is going really well.

The Edinburgh-born cyclist is also an 11-time world champion. He retired from cycling in April 2013. Sir Chris told social media followers he was 'optimistic, positive and surrounded by love', for which he was 'truly grateful'.
