Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

The Liverpool football community is in mourning following the sad news that former captain Ron Yeats has passed away at the age of 86, after a battle with Alzheimer's.

Liverpool FC confirmed the passing of their first FA Cup-winning skipper and have paid tribute by lowering flags to half-mast at their training ground.

Yeats was a true Reds legend, having played in an impressive 454 matches for Liverpool, wearing the captain's armband for 400 of those games- a record surpassed only by Steven Gerrard.The Scotland international, who earned two caps for his country, was instrumental in the team's promotion to the First Division in 1962 under manager Bill Shankly.

During his illustrious time at Liverpool, Yeats helped secure the FA Cup, two First Division titles, and lifted the Charity Shield three times, cementing the club's status as one of England's foremost football teams.
