Children’s TV star died by suicide three months after fiancée’s death - with fans devastated

Beloved TV star Mark Speight died by suicide 16 years ago, just three months after the death of his fiancée Natasha Collins.

During his career in television, Mark became one of the most recognisable faces on children’s TV and starred in shows including Scratchy and Co and See It Saw It.

In 1994 he began presenting on SMart and appeared on the popular show until 2008 alongside presenters including Zoe Ball and Kirsten O’Brien.

Away from his TV work, Staffordshire-born Mark was a spokesperson for ChildLine and the president of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.Tragically, in January 2008, Mark woke to find the body of his girlfriend Natasha in the bath of their north-west London flat.
