Bungling 'drugs smuggler' crashes drone near Scots jail as cops launch probe

A police investigation has been launched after a drone carrying a package full of drugs crashed near a Scots jail.The incident was reported to police shortly after 1am on Wednesday, January 17, after the device was found near HMP Edinburgh.Investigators, who are working alongside the Scottish Prison Service, say the drone operator is believed to have been standing in the nearby Longstone Road area of the city.They’re keen to see CCTV footage from residents which may have captured the attempted smuggler in action.Sergeant Mark Coull said: “It is believed the drone operator was in the Longstone Road area.
