Scots cop faces sex attack investigation after charges dropped by court

A police officer is facing a disciplinary probe over allegations that he raped one women and sexually assaulted another. Prosecutors have announced they’ve dropped a court case against Furhan Iqbal but the suspended constable still needs to face bosses.

In court, he was accused of committing the offences between June 2014 and June 2022 at various addresses in Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire.It included claims he raped the first woman at different times including while she was asleep and under the influence of alcohol.

The 30 year-old is also said to have choked her during one sex attack.Iqbal, of Erskine, faced a separate charge of being threatening and abusive towards the woman.
