The British population take our cups of tea extremely seriously, as we drink a whopping 36 billion cups a year of the stuff.

The Mirror reports one thing that can divide a nation in half - what shade of colour should the tea be?Whether you are a classic tea lover or a milky type of drinker, this is a debate going on forever.

Very British Problems posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) to start up this argument once again on social media. While people have given their views strongly, some have claimed "there's only one correct choice" when looking at a tea colour chart showing the ratios of milk-to-brew.

With A1 being the lightest, almost all milk, and F6 as the darkest with no milk, this argument has come to a boiling point - as people fiercely defend their milk choices. One said: "The correct choice is E3", and then added: "I trust there'll be no further discussion on the matter." But of course, in true British fashion, there was plenty more discussion. While the answer is impossible to get correct, as it's all down to personal preference, it seems the general favourite shades appeared to be those on the A6 to F1 axis and the cups in its vicinity. One X user said: "E2 is the objectively correct choice that doesn't just taste like tannin."Another shared: "D4 for me."A third noted: "I'm more of a C5 person, to be honest."One tea lover had a strong feeling when it came to the milkier teas, and said people should be "publicly shamed", as they joked: "Anyone that says A1 should be be medically examined and then publicly shamed."Another added: "Pretty sure my toddler drinks A1."A third added: ""Saw a B1 on someone's desk yesterday.
