Organisers at the Bluedot festival have spoken of the 'heartbreaking decision' to suddenly cancel day tickets due to torrential downpours over the weekend.

The four-day music event made a statement on Sunday morning warning day ticket holders not to attend due to 'unprecedented' amounts of rain that had left parts of the grounds at Jodrell Bank 'impassible'.

Punters with full weekend passes, who were able to remain at the event, likened the grounds to a 'mud bath' as the prolonged showers left cars completely stranded and fields waterlogged. However, the organisers announced today (July 25) that those disappointed by the cancellation will receive a full refund within the next week as they thanked the 'tirelessly hard-working teams' that battled the elements.

Fans at the festival, which was headlined by the likes of 80s star Grace Jones and Roisin Murphy, were quick to praise 'brilliant' staff over their handling of the disastrous weather last weekend.
