Dude was subtly everywhere, but when Daisy Jones premiered along with all the music he wrote, performed, and produced for the titular fake band, living rooms across the world were playing Blake Mills music even if they didn't know it.
Today, Mills is out with “Skeleton Is Walking,” the lead single from his upcoming album Jelly Roll, out July 14. Far from the endearing era-channeling cosplay of Daisy Jones, "Skeleton" charts an imitable path for itself.
Beginning with the texture of a good-humored prayer layered with gently strummed guitars and Mills' existential musings, the song grows from meditation to invocation with an extended, mesmerizing guitar solo dominating most of the song's runtime.
