Those who use the BBC iPlayer are about to see a dramatic change that will affect how they can watch shows on demand while offline. The streaming service allows viewers to download its available content to watch on devices with no internet connection, making it an ideal option for long travel journeys.
This is currently available on all smartphones, tablets and laptops, but this is set to change from next month. This viewing option will soon no longer be available on Windows PCs and Apple MacBooks, the BBC has confirmed.
New users on these devices have already been blocked from downloading the iPlayer Downloads app and this will apply to existing ones from Monday, March 11."We have started the process of closing the BBC iPlayer Downloads application for PC and Mac.
You can still download your favourite programmes using the iPlayer mobile/tablet app," the BBC said a website post.Existing downloads will be available until April 8, but will no longer work after this date, the Express reports.
