Arresting success for Lanarkshire police history book

A retired police officer’s book telling some of the force’s Lanarkshire true crime stories dating back nearly 200 years has sold out its first two print runs.

Retired superintendent turned author George Barnsley has been delighted by the success of his debut book, The Lanarkshire Police Chronicles – with copies having been sent as far afield as Canada and Australia.

He will be giving presentations on his research into local police history in Rutherglen and his hometown of Airdrie in the coming months, while supporters are already clamouring for a second volume showcasing more of his dedicated research.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
