Cambuslang Rangers put in their best performance of the season to stun Arthurlie 3-2 in the West of Scotland League Premier Division. The Wee Gers were three-times ahead through Alan Reid, Grant Brennan and Ben Richford to take the 3-2 lead into the interval.Though co-boss Billy Campbell admits it was backs against the wall stuff in the second half, he says nobody can grudge the win as they head into a home clash with Irvine Meadow this weekend. He said: “I’m extremely happy with the guys and the way they performed.

Their attitude and application hasn’t been lacking at all, but on Saturday every one of them to a man turned up and they didn’t leave anything in the changing rooms.“We made it quite clear what we needed them to do and the first half was back and forward – we went ahead three times, you come in 3-2 at half-time and it must have been a decent game to watch.“But to be fair to the guys, they absolutely dug in and overall they thoroughly deserved their win.“The first 10 or 15 minutes of the second half it looked like backs against the wall, but the guys defended resolutely, it was brilliant.”Campbell added: “We’ve played very well on occasions but overall I’d say that was our best performance.

We really dug in, we were really pleased with their attitude, and we just need to take that challenge on to Irvine Meadow away on Saturday.“They’re sixth or seventh position, so it will be a further challenge ahead again.“But as I’ve said all along, if we can keep that attitude and application in every game, show that bit of passion, we’ll be there or thereabouts.“I don’t think anyone can question whether we deserved the win, we absolutely did.“It gives us hope.
