Arbroath have slammed the decision from the SPFL to move their upcoming fixture with Dundee United due to a 'centenary' event.

The Red Lichties were due to square off with Jim Goodwin's men on Saturday, October 28 after the Arabs got the bragging rights on the opening day of the season by beating Dick Campbell's side 4-0 at Gayfield.

But now, at the request of United, approved by the governing body, the game has been moved to accommodate the Tayside outfit celebrating the 100 year anniversary of their first game under the Dundee United banner against Dumbarton back in October 1923.The clash at Tannadice now lines up exactly with the 100 year mark, but that's something Arbroath have confirmed they believe that decision puts the 'sporting fairness and the integrity' of the Scottish Championship in to question.

The Lichties said in a statement they are concerned about supporters travel and some of the players who have weekday jobs.A club statement read: "The SPFL have earlier today announced that the forthcoming Cinch Championship fixture between Dundee Utd and Arbroath, due to take place on Saturday 28th October will now be scheduled for Friday, 27th October at 7.45 pm."Dundee United have requested this change of date and time so that they can celebrate the Centenary of Dundee Hibernian FC becoming Dundee Utd FC.
