A popular London chophouse has chosen Manchester for its first site outside the capital. Blacklock, will open its sixth branch on Peter Street this autumn.

The eatery, which is known for cooking a wide range of chops and steaks over charcoal, will open in a Grade II-listed building that was formerly home to a textile merchant.

Blacklock has also become well known for its award-winning Sunday roasts, which are billed as 'almost as good as Mum's'. It comes just a few days after Flat Iron, another hit London restaurant known its 'affordable' steaks confirmed it would be opening its first Manchester restaurant this summer.

The chain, which has 12 restaurants in London, will be taking over the site formerly occupied by specialist outdoor clothing brand Blacks.
