The linesman who appeared to elbow Scotland captain Andy Robertson during Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Arsenal has apologised. It has been confirmed by the FA that no further action will be taken against either the left-back or Constantine Hatzidakis after the latter appeared to catch the player with his arm.

Arsenal had been leading the match 2-0 at Anfield before Jurgen Klopp's men launched a comeback but the incident between the pair has been a talking point in the days after.Speculation of potential punishments have been discussed and debated but the FA say the matter is going no further after looking at evidence, as Hatzidakis confirmed a conversation to apologise to the Scotland skipper: “I have discussed the matter directly with Andy Robertson during an open & positive conversation.

It was not my intention to make any contact with Andy as I pulled my arm away from him and for that I have apologised."The FA's statement reads: "We have thoroughly reviewed all of the evidence in relation to the recent incident at Anfield involving the Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson and match official Constantine Hatzidakis, and we will be taking no further action."Follow Record Sport on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for all of the up-to-the minute breaking news, video and audio on the SPFL, the Scotland national team and beyond. You can also follow our dedicated Rangers and Celtic podcast pages and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season.
