Andy Burnham says he wants to bring Metrolink to Stockport 'as soon as we possibly can' as senior politicians and leaders from the borough met to discuss its future.

The event, held in Stockport Exchange and led by Councillor Mark Hunter, leader of Stockport Council, was centered around the ‘Next Stop Stockport’ plans to help shape the future of transport in the borough.

The round table talk saw the leaders discuss a variety of major projects coming to the borough, including the latest news around bringing the Metrolink to Stockport and the redevelopment of Stockport railway station.

There are also ambitious plans to make the transport network as clean, green and sustainable as possible.
