Big shake-up at Saint Mirren women's team as eight first team players leave

Kate Cooper insists her academy kids can graduate with honours as they step up to fill the gap left by a radical squad clear-out.

The St Mirren Women gaffer’s shake-up has seen EIGHT players – Kirsty Ross, Kelly Ross, Caitlin Andrew, Gemma Dickson, Joanne Casey, Lesley Birrell-Palmer, Carolanne McPhee and Ema Beka – leave the club.

And Kate explained: “It’s a combination of us wanting to invest in new talent and stepping up our training sessions.“We need greater commitment.

We’ve gone to extra training sessions during the week and those players have not been able to commit to that.
