Andy Burnham has denied being disloyal to Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer over his call for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

When the question was put to him on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme on Saturday morning (November 4), the Mayor of Greater Manchester said his statement 'sought to reflect the views of our communities in the city region'.

He added that the difference between him and Sir Keir was 'not too great'. The Labour leader has resisted pressure to call for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict, saying he does not believe it is the 'correct' position to take.

Last week, Burnham became one of a growing number of Labour politicians to release a statement in support of a ceasefire.
