Amazon warns customers over 'creative' scams stealing accounts

Amazon has issued a warning to customers over 'creative' new scams aimed at stealing private information. The online retail giant said scammers are exploiting new technologies and shifting tactics in order to avoid detection.

It outlined the latest scam in order to help customers from being caught out. One of the dangerous scams are targetting those with Prime membership, Wales Online reports.

Amazon said: "These are unexpected calls/texts/emails that refer to a costly membership fee or an issue with your membership and ask you to confirm or cancel the charge. Try MEN Premium for FREE by clicking here for no ads, fun puzzles and brilliant new features "These scammers try to convince you to provide payment or bank account information in order to reinstate a membership.

Amazon will never ask you to provide payment information for products or services over the phone. Visit the Message Centre on Amazon.co.uk or on our app to review authentic emails from Amazon. "To verify your Prime Membership status or make payments, log into your Amazon account, and go to Your Account." The second scam customers are being made aware of is over false account suspension warnings.
