All the Greater Manchester schools so far confirmed to have concrete risk

Seven schools in Greater Manchester have so far been confirmed to be at risk from reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) - as the new term starts today and tomorrow for thousands of children.

The schools minister, Nick Gibb, said on Tuesday a full list of schools affected by potentially crumbling concrete would be published 'before Friday' and revealed every school affected would be assigned a caseworker and surveyors.

Although a total accurate number isn't yet known, the Department for Education said it had contacted 104 schools fitted with the lightweight building material used from the 1950s up to the mid-1990s. As children across Greater Manchester and the country go back to the classroom, the Manchester Evening News can reveal seven schools here have been confirmed as being affected with an eighth, St Gregory's RC Primary School in Farnworth, Bolton, identified as possibly being at risk, although it hasn't been confirmed.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said it was 'unforgivable' children were missing the start of term due to the crumbling concrete crisis.
