Aberlour children's charity launches urgent fundraising appeal to help Lanarkshire families

A children’s charity which has given grants totalling more than £52,000 to almost 650 Lanarkshire residents in the past year has launched a fundraising appeal as it warns its emergency grants fund is “set to run out before Christmas”.Representatives of Aberlour say they are seeing soaring demand for their support as the cost of living crisis continues to bite, ahead of the toughest of the winter months.

Its fund for urgent assistance provides families with emergency grants for essentials including heating, clothing, bedding and food, with one Lanarkshire support worker telling how its impact is vital for those who are “really, really struggling”.

The charity’s urgent assistance grants for Lanarkshire residents in the past year contributed to its total of more than £580,000 being distributed to benefit nearly 7000 people, including 4275 children; and officials say it has seen “a surge in demand due to the cost of living crisis”.
