A Place In The Sun's Jonnie Irwin has been admitted to hospital amid his devastating cancer battle.The 49 year old broadcaster has terminal lung cancer, which has spread to his brain, and he's bravely kept his Instagram followers updated with his journey.The father of three took to the social media platform on Wednesday to inform his followers that he'd been admitted to hospital, but revealed that he hoped he would be out soon.

He wrote: "In hospital this week monitoring a changeover in my pain management regime. Fingers crossed I’ll be out in time to make an appearance on Sunday for this weekends @aplaceinthesunofficial LIVE event at @olympialondon in Kensington." Jonnie was initially given six months to live when first diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2020, but has outlived doctor’s predictions with the help of medication, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

He recently opened up about his devastating diagnosis, as he revealed that he has been close to dying "at least twice" since the cancer, spread to his brain.

Speaking on the OneChat podcast, he told the host that is aim is "to try and remain positive." "Positive for me is burying my head in the sand a bit," he added. "[My wife] Jess and I don't talk about it much and we've been close to death's door a few times now.Twice at least." While Jonnie, 49 and Jess, 40, try not to talk about his terminal diagnosis, they have begun putting things in place to make things easier for his young family after he is gone.
