Woody Harrelson Responds to Matthew McConaughey Saying They Might Be Brothers

In a recent interview, Matthew, 53, revealed that there is a very good chance that he and Woody, 61, are half-brothers when his mother, Mary Katherine McCabe, recalled meeting Woody‘s dad decades ago, seemingly inferring that the two had a sexual relationship.
While appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night (April 18), Woody confirmed that there is a strong possibility that he and Matthew are related. Keep reading to find out more… “I mean, it’s crazy…I’ve known ‘Ma Mc’ a long time and she goes, ‘I knew your father …’” Woody recalled. “And it was the ellipsis that I found a little troubling — or interesting.” When Stephen asked, “How would you describe that pause?” Woody replied, “Filled with innuendo.” Woody went on to explain that logistically his dad could also be Matthew‘s dad.
He said that nine months before giving birth to Matthew, Mary and James Donald McConaughey – the man Matthew has assumed to be his father – were on a “sabbatical” and that’s when she met Woody‘s dad. Woody said that he and Matthew have contemplated getting a DNA test done, but Matthew is a hesitant about getting the results. “For him it’s a much more big deal, I mean, he feels like he’s losing a father, but I’m like, ‘No, you’re gaining a different father and a brother,’” Woody explained.
