Woman rescued after car is ploughed into lamppost and flips over onto roof

A woman was pulled to safety after her car was ploughed into a lamppost before flipping over onto its roof in a dramatic crash in Middleton.

Emergency services, including police, fire crews and paramedics, raced to the scene of the collision on Grimshaw Lane at around 3.15pm on Monday (July 29).

The car, a grey BMW, had hit a lamppost before flipping over and landing on its roof in the middle of the road. The area was taped off as emergency crews responded. It is understood her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Local councillor Dylan Williams has since said action needs to be taken against 'the most dangerous road in the whole borough' and that 'traffic calming measures' need to be introduced.
