A man is fighting for his life in hospital after his car ploughed into a set of railings near Manchester Airport on Monday afternoon (August 12).
The driver is thought to have suffered a medical episode behind the wheel before his vehicle smashed into the central reservation on Palma Avenue, near Terminal Two.
Police were called to the serious crash at around 12.10pm. The driver was rushed to hospital from the scene with serious and life-threatening injuries. A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 12.10pm this afternoon (Monday 12 August 2024), we were called to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a set of metal railings on Palma Avenue near to Manchester Airport. "It is believed that the male driver of the vehicle had a medical episode behind the wheel which caused him to collide with metal railings on the central reservation. "He was taken to hospital with injuries that were described as life changing / life threatening and remains in hospital for treatment.
