Wishaw man who saved neighbour from inferno finally recognised for his bravery

A brave Wishaw man who was hailed a hero after rescuing his neighbour from a smoke-filled inferno has finally been recognised for his bravery.

Lee Murray, from Craigneuk, was just 17 when he rushed to the aid of Joe Carlin after he heard the smoke alarm going off at his neighbours’ home in Glencairn Avenue back in May 2018.

The then St Aidan’s High pupil sprung into action battling through the smoke that had started to fill the property before carrying Joe, 55, to safety before firefighters got to the scene.
