Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s son reportedly named after Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA
Rihanna‘s and A$AP Rocky‘s first-born child has reportedly finally been revealed.According to the Daily Mail – who claim to have obtained the child’s birth certificate – Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have reportedly named their year-old son RZA Athelston Mayers, seemingly after Wu-Tang Clan rapper RZA.Daily Mail have also shared an image of the birth certificate, seemingly confirming the child’s name, date of birth and parents’ names.Rihanna and A$AP Rocky welcomed their son in May last year and have kept his name under wraps ever since, though Rihanna has been seen donning Wu-Tang and RZA clothing multiple times in the past year.Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have yet to comment on the legitimacy of their son’s name.A$AP Rocky – real name Rakim Mayers – has been vocal in the past about Wu-Tang Clan’s influence on his music, and even released a song titled ‘Wu-Tang Forever’ in 2016 with Drake.Earlier this year, while performing for the Super Bowl halftime show, Rihanna revealed that she is currently pregnant with her second child. That show – Rihanna’s first performance in five years – has since become the most-watched Super Bowl halftime performance ever, overtaking previous title-holder Katy Perry’s 2015 showcase.Last month, it was announced that Rihanna will voice Smurfette in an upcoming Smurfs movie from Paramount, due for release in 2025.

Martin Shkreli has been released early from prison
Wu-Tang Clan‘s ‘Once Upon A Time In Shaolin’ for $2million (£1.4m), has been released early from prison.Shkreli was serving a seven-year sentence after being found guilty of securities fraud following claims he defrauded investors in former hedge funds in 2017.Upon his incarceration, the US government seized ‘Once Upon A Time In Shaolin’ and sold it on to a new buyer last year. But today (May 18) his lawyer Ben Brafman confirmed that Shkreli has been released.“I am pleased to report that Martin Shkreli has been released from Allenwood prison and transferred to a BOP halfway house after completing all programs that allowed for his prison sentence to be shortened,” he said in a statement to The Washington Post. In 2020, Shkreli was denied an early release from prison after he petitioned to be let out so he could continue the “significant research” he’d be conducting into finding a vaccine for coronavirus. But the judge described his attempt at a shortened sentence to be another example of the “delusional self-aggrandising behaviour” that he often exhibits, while also citing the few number of COVID-19 cases at Shkreli’s prison, and his lack of a pre-existing condition that would make him more likely to catch the virus.Earlier this year, he was barred from the drug industry and ordered to return the $64.6million (£47.2million) in profits that he made by price-gouging the drug Daraprim in 2015.Meanwhile, shortly after Shkreli’s incarceration, RZA said he had attempted to reclaim the CD copy of ‘Once Upon A Time…’.Although the album was never released to the public, Shkreli did play clips of it during a live-stream in 2017.

Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s widow sues Wu-Tang Clan over alleged unpaid royalties
Ol’ Dirty Bastard has sued Wu-Tang Clan, alleging years of unpaid royalties to the late rapper’s estate.ODB, real name Russell Tyrone Jones, was a founding member of the Wu-Tang. He passed away in November 2004 at the age of 35 following an accidental drug overdose.Icelene Jones, ODB’s widow and the sole executor of his estate, has now taken legal action against Wu-Tang Clan, alleging that the late rapper’s estate is owed at least $1million (£737,565) in unpaid royalties (via Variety).Jones alleges in the suit, which was filed in New York Supreme Court yesterday (February 8), that Wu-Tang Clan Productions – which is owned and operated by RZA – did not pay royalties to ODB’s estate between 2011 and July 2021, when it sent a cheque for $130,000 (£95,000).While ODB’s estate also received some payments in 2019 and 2020 from Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Corp., the suit claims that the two combined payments fell well short of what they are owed. The complaint cites a 1992 recording agreement, which states that ODB was to be paid 50 per cent of net earnings from publishing and recording royalties, as well as merchandising and videos. The suit further alleges that ODB’s estate has not been granted detailed accounting statements, despite repeated requests for accountings and payments over the last decade.Jones’ suit alleges breach of contract and is seeking damages of at least $1 million, as well as interest, attorneys’ fees and costs.
