Danny Simpson is back observing and learning at Manchester United's academy as he studies for his coaching badges. Eccles-born Simpson joined United's academy as a boy and the Manchester Evening News understands he's back at the club to observe academy training and matches while he weighs up the next step in his career.
Simpson, who also does punditry work for MUTV, watched from the stands at Leigh Sports Village as the Under-19s defeated Galatasaray in the UEFA Youth League earlier this week. He made his United debut in October 2007 and left Old Trafford three years later after making eight senior appearances. The right-back then had spells with Newcastle and Queens Park Rangers before joining Leicester City, where he would make 30 starts in their remarkable, history-making Premier League winning season in 2015/2016.
Simpson played for Huddersfield Town and Bristol City after leaving Leicester and he spoke to the MEN in December about the difficulties professional footballers encounter when their contracts expire.
