Los Angeles is preparing for a historic weather event as Hurricane Hilary makes its way to land. Southern California was just issued its first-ever tropical storm watch and this is the first time a tropical storm warning has been issued for any region between Hawaii and Texas, according to the National Weather Service.
The latest updates say to expect winds at 10-20 mph with gusts to 25 mph, plus there is potential for wind 39 to 57 mph. Flooding rain is expected with peak rainfall amounts at 2-4 inches, with locally higher amounts.

Keep reading to find out more… FRIDAY, AUGUST 18 The storm will make landfall on Friday at around 8pm, right on the Baja California coast. SATURDAY, AUGUST 19 Baja California will continue to be hit by the storm on Saturday while southern California can expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 12pm noon.
The chance of showers and thunderstorms becomes stronger after midnight. SUNDAY, AUGUST 20 On Sunday, southern California will experience the strongest portion of wind and rain.
