A pub has again been rejected for a licence to sell booze after being banned back in April following a shooting. The Queens Hotel was denied a temporary licence to serve alcohol over the bank holiday weekend due to continued ‘danger to the public’, according to Greater Manchester Police.

Investigations remain ongoing into the incident on March 12 where a huge brawl 'involving a machete and a gun' took place in the Monsall area.

The owner of the Sedgeford Road establishment, Stephen Dale, was named by PC Alan Isherwood during the hearing as an active suspect in the investigation and said he had been released under investigation after being arrested. Mr Dale and his partner Janice Flint have received threats to their lives, Manchester Council’s licensing sub-committee was told on August 21. “Stephen, you are an active suspect as part of the investigation,” PC Isherwood told Manchester Town Hall. “You and Janice have both received threats to life and we do not think you are fit to hold this licence (because of this).” This threat to life and the potential danger posed to residents of Monsall and the customers at the pub was the reason the licence was revoked initially, and why the temporary licence was denied.
